TIEFLAND
Premiere: January 17th, 2026
as part of the Directorial Showcase
at the Conservatory for Music Hanns Eisler Berlin
Tiefland opens with the promise of a pastoral idyll. But beneath it lies isolation and longing. In this staging of the Prelude and First Scene, the alpine highlands become the interior of a truck. Nando and Pedro are reimagined as long-haul drivers, living in a confined, mobile space; suspended between places, routines, and relationships.
The truck functions as a psychological interior: empty, repetitive, stripped of distraction. Here, loneliness appears not as tragedy, but as habit. Pedro escapes into hope and fantasy. Nando resists through cynicism and the body.
A scene about men who could leave, but don’t.
